My question is If we give up on trying to catch plagiarism by students how will we separate the students who genuinely work hard from those who lack effort? Also, a lot of students who are just good writers get accused of plagiarism when in reality they just have good writing skills, I know in this day and age technology is a really big thing and advances every day but does that neglect the students who put the time and energy into their work ?

There are many arguments about technology negatively or positively affecting young’s English and grammar; however, I feel like English or any form of communication can and has changed. Why should technology be credited for changing our language? There are no arguments that it has not, but to say it is bad or good is a little contradictory, no? English has evolved from us using basic sounds like “Ah” to archaic English with “thy, thee, and thine, and thou” to modern English; why should technology be held accountable for causing change when all English has done is change from generation to generation? Why couldn’t it change now?

Many writers argue that the start of the technology era has influenced a downward spiral of the grammatical use of most people in society. While I don’t disagree with this, how is this any different than the evolution of the use of language changing periodically to fit different times? The English language used now is a lot different compared to the English of Shakespearean times. So who’s to say that the grammar behind the language has gotten worse when the grammar we use now makes more sense. I know I’m sort of answering my own question with this but this seems like an interesting question, it’s an interesting argument to have on whether our grammatical use of the language is diminishing due to technology or whether it’s evolving with us.

After reading the articles, I asked myself whether the arguments around technology and literacy contradicted the popular belief that technology improved education. I’ve had discussions not only with my classmates but my mentors as well who have differing opinions about the impact of technology. In a history class, I took my last year of high school, my teacher advised us to take handwritten notes because it would improve our understanding of the topic. Yet, I had typed the notes for my other classes excluding his. Rather than technology impacting our abilities as writers, it is how technology affects our attention span to hone everyday skills.
